Stafano Da Col story

My name is Stefano Da Col and I hold a Master in International Tourism obtained in October 2010. I joined as a student assistant in early 2010, when I started to work on my master thesis, focusing on the tourism online reputation. It turns out to be a very good thesis called Online Reputation of Tourism Destinations: Towards a Destination Online Reputation Model. Data from this work was used also to write a chapter on the book Facebook in tourism. Destinazioni turistiche e Social Network (thanks to Prof. Cantoni, Dr. Elena Marchiori and Dr. Alessandro Inversini), edited by Franco Angeli.

After the thesis I worked for more than a year in as a Project Manager and Research Assistant, for several consultancy projects in the travel & tourism industry and in particular on the online communication.

Then, in 2012, I joined Dixero International SA – a digital solutions company based in Lugano – as a Project Manager. Thus, the field I’m working on is still in Information Technology, increasing my project management job profile. In particular, I have to deal everyday with the different facets of business: client expectations, strict deadlines, ever-changing scenarios. Sometimes it can be tough, but It is also extremely rewarding. I’m currently responsible – from a PM point of view – of the streaming-based music platform of one of the biggest Italian (and European) telecommunication providers.

So, in the end, I must say that I did a pretty interesting route during these first years after graduation. I guess you should just be prepared and adapt yourself to the conditions of the nowadays work environment. Because probably there is no space to completely settle down and keep the same job forever. However, I believe that if you’re able to have your mind-set open and ready, there is no goal in the world you’re not capable to achieve.
