A team from webatelier.net and eLab, composed of Prof. Lorenzo Cantoni, Dr. Elena Marchiori, Alessia Borrè, Yann Cuttaz, Mattia Pera, and Dr. Riccardo Mazza, designed and developed a multimedia guide of the cultural and conference complex of Monte Verità in Ascona (Switzerland).
The multimedia guide is available for free for mobile devices with the name Mediaguide Monte Verità (on App Store and Google Play). The app allows to trace the historical evolution of the site with the aid of audio, video, text in four languages, maps, QRcodes, and old photographs, with quizzes and a high level of user interaction.
The use of an app allows to overcome the limitations due to the classic use of audio guides with the related equipment to hire and costs of maintenance. Moreover, compared to a classic audio guide, a multimedia guide app allows to enrich the type of contents proposed to guests, and can be used before, during, and after the tourism experience.
The Mediaguide app was presented on Saturday, May 30th 2015 during the celebrations for the 25th anniversary of the Fondazione Monte Verità.
