Adukaite Asta (PhD Candidate)

Asta is a Ph.D. candidate at the Faculty of Communication Sciences at the Università della Svizzera italiana (USI, University of Lugano, Switzerland).  She hold the Master’s degree in Economics and Communication, with a Major in International Tourism (USI, Lugano, Switzerland) and the Bachelor’s degree in Law with a minor in Management (Mykolas Romeris University Vilnius, Lithuania). She takes part at the doctoral school CROSS-FIELD, www.cross-field.ch, (collaboration of three Swiss Universities: University of Lugano, École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), and Universität St.Gallen), which addresses the subject of informal learning, and how digital technologies can help to promote it, as well as to better integrate it with formal learning in different learning contexts.

Her PhD research focus is on technology enhanced life-long learning in the hospitality and tourism sector, especially investigating the differences and overlapping of formal and informal learning experiences and the role as well as impact of information and communication technologies (ICT) in these processes.

She is also a researcher at webatelier.net and works on applied research projects related to usability and user experience, mobile applications concepts design as well as professional training in tourism e.g. collaborating on design and implementation of the professional training course on online communication for tourism operators in canton Ticino, Switzerland (www.futour.net).
